Greene County deserves a voice that listens.
I'm Jay Hunter — a neighbor, a volunteer, and an independent candidate for Greene County Board of Supervisors. I moved here because of this community. Now I'm running to serve it.
My Values
-
From the shops of Ruckersville to the courthouse in Stanardsville, from the hollows of Bacon & Mutton to the mountain peaks of Dyke — Greene County is made up of unique places and people, each with their own needs and stories.
I'll represent all of it, showing up in every corner of this county, listening before deciding, and making sure Greene County works for everyone who calls it home .
-
Greene County's growth should be planned, not just permitted — and we already have a roadmap. Our Comprehensive Plan was built with citizen input and community guidance. I'll push to follow it: protecting our rural character, investing in critical infrastructure, and making sure every resident has access to safe, reliable drinking water — including completing the White Run Reservoir Water Impoundment Project on which Greene County's future depends.
-
Fund our schools fully. Greene County Public Schools asked for what they need — and this year's budget gave them $2.4 million less. Our teachers, staff, and students deserve better than a funding gap filled by drawing down reserves. I'll fight to make education a true priority, not an afterthought.
-
Support our first responders. Our sheriff's department has waited years for facility upgrades that keep getting deferred. Our fire companies and EMS crews answer every call with aging equipment and tight budgets. These are the people who show up when everything goes wrong — they deserve a board that shows up for them.
-
Independent, always. I don't owe allegiance to a party. I answer to you.
